Workshops and classes in partner acrobatics and aerial circus.

Fundamentals

When I approach the trapeze, I always start with the fundamentals. To move safely, we first need the physical strength to begin. Then, we need both an intellectual and physical understanding of what each movement requires. That’s why we start by finding our fundamental positions, these are the building blocks that allow us to work and develop further. Only then do we dive into more advanced positions and dynamics.

Dynamics

In my opinion, dynamics are the most complicated aspect to understand. They require both spatial and bodily awareness, and often, a focus on balance that is frequently overlooked. In my experience it is necessary to understand the relationship between center of gravity, positioning and balance to have a continuous development in the dynamics.

Balance

Finally, balance. Of course, balance isn’t only used to achieve other objectives; it’s also one of my personal favorites on its own. To in different positions balance on top of the trapeze without holding yourself. The vulnerability of balance, I believe, takes us back to the very fundamentals of circus: the risk and the anticipation.
